Nick Saab is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Federal Relations at WashU. Based in Washington, D.C., Nick is responsible for developing and executing the university’s federal agenda, as well as promoting engagement between WashU and decision makers in D.C.

In addition to managing day-to-day interactions with House and Senate offices and Executive Branch agencies, Nick leads the lobbying and engagement activities of WashU’s federal relations team. This includes conceptualizing and advocating WashU’s federal funding and policy priorities, developing and executing sophisticated strategies to grow the university’s profile among key Executive Branch agencies and in Congress, and working closely with faculty and leadership at the university to build federal relationships that further WashU’s interests.

Nick has nearly 15 years of experience navigating the federal landscape on behalf of entities in the research, higher education, and technology domains. Prior to joining WashU, Nick was a Senior Principal at Lewis-Burke Associates LLC, a premier government relations and consulting firm.  In this role, Nick leveraged strong bipartisan relationships on Capitol Hill, across three White House administrations, and throughout federal mission agencies on behalf of a diverse array of clients, including major R1 institutions, publicly traded tech companies, federal facility management organizations, and scientific societies. Nick also previously held government relations positions at the American Geophysical Union and American Society of Civil Engineers.

Nick earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. He and his wife live in Arlington, VA with their two sons.
