JoAnna Schooler is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community & Local Government Relations at Washington University in St. Louis. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of relationships with elected and appointed officials and neighborhood organizations in Clayton and University City, Missouri. She develops and communicates university positions on local policy initiatives and issues. Additionally, Ms. Schooler advises and guides university groups about engagement with the local communities and elected officials.

Ms. Schooler has extensive experience in community and government relations, public affairs and issues management.  She joined Washington University in July 2018.

Prior to her position at WashU, Ms. Schooler was responsible for community relations, state public policy, local government relations and corporate communications at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in St. Louis and Washington, DC. Previously, she also served in internal and external communications roles for Lucent Technologies and Agere Systems, a spin-off of Lucent, while based in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the United Kingdom.

JoAnna Schooler received a Masters of Art in Strategic Communications from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey and a Bachelors of Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
