Julie Baker is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for State Relations at Washington University in St. Louis. As part of the Office of Government and Community Relation’s mission to serve as the nexus for university relationships with government officials, a centralized presence for WashU in Jefferson City was established through the creation of this new position. Julie took on this role in December 2023 and is tasked with creating a visible WashU presence at the state level in close proximity to elected officials to identify, foster, and develop key relationships and WashU supporters, while responding to opportunities and challenges in real time.
Julie has extensive legislative experience, serving most recently as General Counsel to the past three Speakers of the Missouri House of Representatives. Prior to that, she served as Chief Deputy General Counsel for Governor Mike Parson and was previously the Director of Drafting Services for the Missouri House.
Julie Baker earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
